Memorial Day

I don't feel it appropriate to say Happy Memorial Day. There really isn't anything happy about it except for those who have survived and come home. Some not even in one piece, be it body or mind.  I want to Thank all of those out there who have served, currently serving and getting ready for service! Without these brave men and women we wouldn't be able to live as free as we do.

THANK YOU!!!!

New Markers :o)

So...as many of you know from me stating before, Copic markers are not in my budget. Probably never will be and that is okay. I am jealous of those who do have them and I think it's fabulous! Well, I found a marker that will suit my copic needs just perfectly without breaking the bank :o) This company makes several different types of markers and I decided to try the alcohol ones... I Love Them!

My mom ordered these markers for me online. The sets I got were on Amazon for $10.76 each, containing 6 markers. Super fast shipping! I still need a few more, hee hee and then the rest of the colors I will have to get separately on the Marvy Uchida website. In total there are 141 colors plus a white, gold and silver. As you can see from the coloring above, I am trying to learn how to use them and it's fun. Staying in the lines is a bit challenging as these are nothing like my Bic's. They have a soft brush nib, I really like it, I just have to get used to it. And I need a lot more colors to work with or all of my images are going to be the same. This post is for anyone who may want to try these out as an alternative to copics if you are on a low budget like me :o) If you do try these, or have used them before, let me know what you think.

Have a super week!

Teacher Gift #2 2012

So this is the 2nd Teacher gift for this year. Ty's 5th grade teacher is male so I knew I couldn't make him a purse or bag, hee hee :o) Then I remembered I had bought a couple of notepads at my local Dollar Tree with the intention of covering them for a teacher. I used my scissors to rough up the edges of the note card and red mat then curled the edge to look a little worn. I thought about inking it after I adhered it all down so, oh well. I think it still looks cool :o)

Supplies Used
Cardstock- Recollections
Patterned Paper- DCWV The Grade School Stack
Stamps- Michael's $ bin teacher set and alphas
Ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, Rhubarb Stalk, Paris Dusk, Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves

Teacher Gift #1 2012

This is a gift that I made for Caleb's 2nd grade teacher for this year. I love making the 3x3 note cards but, I didn't want to make another one of the same boxes I had done before so... as I was trying to figure out if I had a cartridge that would cut out a purse, I remembered I have Tags, Bags, Boxes and More on my Gypsy, ding ding ding! Since it was a free download when I registered I went to cricut and downloaded the book to see what the cuts would look like. I am happy to report that I made several that I love! At first I used cardstock that I didn't care too much for to get the sizes to fit what I needed. This is the only completed project but now I have lots more ideas :o) I have also attached photos of the note cards. They are very simple and plain so they will fit inside the bag. Let me know what you all think!
